Job Description
Ecommerce and SaaS businesses partner with our email performance agency, Boxcar by Copyhackers, to turn their email marketing program into a top revenue generator for their business. Boxcar is seeking a skilled Client Project Manager with the poise to service our clients, while overseeing project success internally.
As a client-services pro, you can, in the words of Lane Pryce, make our clients feel as if they have no needs. As in, you ensure their needs are elegantly solved and their story is one of delight by operating effectively at the helm of each initiative for the clients in your portfolio. The effect? Clients feel totally seen and cared for, with results they love.
As a project manager, you are a tenacious problem-solver with razor-sharp time-management and organizational skills and you have a genuine investment in facilitating excellent work for your data-driven team.
You’ll be interfacing with clients day-to-day, while also driving projects internally with dedicated, cross-functional teams that include Strategists, Data Analysts, Conversion Copywriters, Tech Specialists and Coordinators.
What you will do:
As the Client Project Manager, you are the advocate for your clients’ monthly initiatives. You ensure the strategic direction / client roadmap is realized, every month, by liaising with our team while shepherding clients through sign-offs, alignments and realignments to keep things running smoothly day-after-day. Similar to an ad agency, our agency is retainer-based, so you’ll be able to get to know your clients well, with the added reward of reporting wins that transform their email program into one of their strongest growth arms. Success in this role is measured by account retention.
Responsibilities:
Build authentic, long-lasting client relationships that are marked by client success, respect, trust, buy-in and credibility. Our clients should have no doubt that you are their true business partner.
Solve for our business’s revenue and growth by retaining clients; “floating ideas” that lead to meetings for new work; securing case studies; and generating referrals.
- Be accountable for running profitable accounts by stopping scope creep and accurately presenting project commitments and resource allocations to the team and clients each month.
Surface client questions and concerns to the team, while also being a master “gatekeeper” for our team, so deep work can get done in-house daily. Expertly handle difficult conversations. And listen closely to clients for direction and, importantly, changes in direction.
Work with the Data Analyst to proactively surface data challenges we can solve for our clients; present / pitch opportunities to clients.
Work with the Strategist to effectively plan projects clients will approve. Work with the Creative Director to ensure email execution is likely to achieve client approval, and diplomatically offer recommendations for email creative (copy, art) based on what you know to be true for the client, their brand and their goals.
Communicate to the COO and CEO concerns about client challenges / struggles and opportunities to delight. Follow through on ideas.
Take full ownership of results and ensure client delight by collaborating well; assisting with planning and running projects; managing expectations; managing time; and presenting results - both wins and losses - with appropriate frames.
As the need arises, travel to meet with clients. Be available for calls that are outside of standard working hours.
Recommended skills and experience to succeed in this role:
3-5+ years of experience managing multiple client projects, preferably in an agency or consultancy setting.
Exposure to and experience with email marketing.
Excellent communicator and presenter who can comfortably negotiate, pitch and advocate the agency’s recommendations, whether it’s through a note in Slack, an email, Loom or a live Zoom presentation.
Extremely organized, professional yet friendly demeanor in a virtual setting.
Able to understand and communicate the agency's capabilities.
Tenacious, thoughtful, patient - can persevere through complex technical challenges and solve problems as they arise.
Natural proclivity to develop relationships, listen to and collaborate with people.
Enthusiastic learner who is interested in knowing how to “talk shop” when it comes to email, by staying on the pulse of email trends and learning about each client’s tech stack.
The ideal Client Project Manager will have prior experience managing complex digital marketing accounts at an agency or in-house. Major bonus points given for candidates with experience with email copywriting, conversion copywriting or email automations.
If you’re a project management professional who loves the rewards of developing long-term client relationships, then join us as we generate massive revenue wins for ecommerce and SaaS leaders through email marketing.
